Junior Brad Lawson (Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani School) of the No. 2 Stanford men’s volleyball team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of January 10-16.
Lawson combined for 39 kills, a .391 hitting percentage, nine digs, four assists, four blocks and three aces to lead Stanford to a pair of conference-opening victories over then-No. 2 BYU.
The 2010 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Year had four consecutive Stanford kills when the Cardinal trailed 12-10 in the fifth set on Friday, fighting off two match points to tie the score at 14-14. Stanford went on to win the set 17-15, and capture the match.
On Saturday, Lawson had eight first-set kills and served four consecutive points to lead off the decisive fourth set against the Cougars. He finished with three aces in the match and 19 kills.
