STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford wrestler Bret Baumbach has been named the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week after claiming his first conference title at the 2013 Pac-12 Championships in Tempe, Ariz.
Baumbach became the 15th conference champion in school history on Saturday. As the three seed, Baumbach posted a 4-1 decision over Boise State's Holden Packard in the semifinals and a 7-1 decision over top-seeded Seth Thomas of Oregon State in the final. A native of Council Bluffs, Iowa, he is now 22-10 overall and receives an automatic berth into the 2013 NCAA Championships, held this year in Des Moines, Iowa.
It is the first Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor for Baumbach and he is the first Cardinal wrestler to earn the honor this season.
