Seven Stanford women's basketball players were honored as All-Academic selections by the Pac-12 Wednesday. Chiney Ogwumike, who was previously named Capital One Academic All-America of the Year and Pac-12 Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, led the way by being named to the First Team, with junior forward Bonnie Samuelson claiming a spot on the Second Team.
Alex Green, Taylor Greenfield, Sara James, Amber Orrange and Mikaela Ruef were all named honorable mention.
For Ogwumike and Ruef, it was the third All-Academic selections of their respective careers, with Ogwumike earning her first nod to the top team.
Samuelson, named to the Second Team, was recognized for the second straight year, after earning honorable mention a year ago.
Green, Greenfield, James and Orrange all earned their first nods.
Stanford (31-3) is two steps away from the program's 12th Final Four appearance and sixth in the past seven years. The Cardinal hosts the Stanford Regional at Maples Pavilion this weekend, taking on No. 3 seed Penn State in Sweet-16 action Sunday at 1:34 p.m. on ESPN2.
