It may be the sixth time in seven years that Stanford has made the trip to the Final Four, but the welcome feeling and excitement never gets old. Such was the case Thursday as the Cardinal arrived in Nashville for the 2014 edition of women’s basketball’s signature event.

It is Stanford’s 12th appearance at the Final Four, third-most of all schools. The Cardinal (33-3) will face No. 1 Connecticut (38-0) Sunday, April 6 at 6 p.m. PT on ESPN at Bridgestone Arena in the second national semifinal contest.

As the Cardinal rides its own wave of momentum into Nashville, it's also a great chance for fans to jump onboard and become season ticket holders for 2014-15. Making a $100 deposit on next year's season tickets at the "2014-15 Season Tickets" link with this story ensures that you get to allocate your seat location before the general public.

Even an early-morning practice at 7:30 a.m. at Maples Pavilion couldn’t dull the eagerness and thrill of the upcoming Final Four. With practice finished at 9 a.m., the players cleaned up and boarded the bus for their final road trip of the season, heading to Norman Mineta International Airport in San Jose.

After a four-hour flight across the heartland, the Cardinal touched down in Nashville at 5 p.m. CT and headed to the hotel, located right in the heart of the city’s downtown entertainment district. The Nashville Organizing Committee was on hand to formally welcome the team to the city, while fans milled around taking photos with the players and local news crews interviewed head coach Tara VanDerveer.

Following the welcome, the team headed upstairs for a deluxe barbecue dinner of pulled pork, ribs, and all the fixings catered by the hotel staff, then wrapped the day with a quick team meeting and film session scouting Sunday’s opponent, Connecticut.
