Stanford women’s basketball forward Chiney Ogwumike was named to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason List, The Los Angeles Athletic Club announced Friday.

Ogwumike is one of two 2013 Wooden Award All-Americans on the list, alongside Baylor’s Odyssey Sims, and one of two Pac-12 players included, with California’s Brittany Boyd.

The national ballot, issued later in the season, will be reduced to 15 players, with the five-player Wooden All-America Team being announced the week of the 2014 Final Four in Nashville.

Ogwumike is in the middle of one of most dominant seasons among all players in the country, averaging 27.3 points and 11.8 rebounds per game while shooting 62.8 percent from the field. For the second straight year she is the only player to rank in the national top 10 in all three of those categories, ranking third in scoring, fifth in field-goal percentage and ninth in rebounding through Jan. 16.

She has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week six times this season and was named espnW National Player of the Week on Dec. 23. Ogwumike has scored at least 30 points in eight games this season and in six of Stanford’s last seven.

Fourth-ranked Stanford, with a 15-1 overall record and 4-0 mark in the Pac-12, visits Arizona Friday night in Tucson on the Pac-12 Network.
