Stanford University and Maples Pavilion will serve as one of four regional host sites for the 2014 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, the NCAA announced Tuesday.
Along with Stanford, the NCAA tabbed Louisville, Ky. (Louisville), Notre Dame, Ind. (Notre Dame) and Lincoln, Neb. (Nebraska) to round out the four regional host sites.
Beginning in 2014, the NCAA will allow regional host teams to play on their home courts.
The upcoming event will mark the fourth time that Maples Pavilion, with a 7,233-seat capacity, has hosted an NCAA Regional, and the 18th year overall that it has hosted NCAA Tournament action since 1989. The venue previously hosted an NCAA Regional in 1990, 1994 and 2003. Stanford also hosted first- and second-round tournament action.
The 2014 NCAA Regionals will take place March 29-April 1. Game dates and times for each regional site will be released on a later occasion. Ticket, hotel and travel information for the Stanford Regional will also be available at a future date.The 2014 NCAA Women’s Final Four will take place April 6 and 8 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
