TUCSON, Ariz. -- Stanford will go with another lefty pitcher in Logan James in an effort to win its second straight road series Sunday at Arizona. The Cardinal evened the three-game set Saturday on a 20-hit effort and 8.2 strong innings from left-hander John Hochstatter.
The offense busted out for its most hits since 2012 in a 10-6 win over the Wildcats Saturday night. Hochstatter nearly finished what would have been his third straight complete game after Stanford cruised to a 10-3 lead through eight innings. Stanford produced three runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth inning.
Stanford also lost game one of its series at UCLA last weekend, before coming back to win two straight and take the series. The Cardinal fell to Arizona Friday, 3-2, in 10 innings, despite holding a 2-1 lead after eight.
After Sunday, the Cardinal comes back to California for five straight home games. Stanford hosts San Jose State (May 13), Washington State (May 16-18) and Pacific (May 20). The Friday, May 16 game against Washington State is the popular Fireworks Night at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond.
