STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford travels across the Bay to take on Saint Mary's Wednesday at 3 p.m. in its second non-conference midweek game of the season. The Cardinal is looking to get back to .500 overall for the first time since starting 4-4.
The unusual Wednesday game is due to a rainout at Saint Mary's March 25.
Brett Hanewich, the usual Friday night starter, will get the ball for the Cardinal. Hanewich has had four days rest since throwing last Friday and if he goes deep into Wednesday's game could set up for a Monday start on four days rest against California.
Saint Mary's has yet to announce a starting pitcher.
The Cardinal exploded for 10 runs on 12 hits last night in a 10-9 win at Santa Clara. Jack Klein recorded his first career hit on his way to a three-hit day, while also walking twice and scoring three runs. Alex Blandino, Brett Michael Doran and Austin Slater had two hits.
Blandino leads Stanford with a .303 batting average, while Slater is one point behind at .302.
Stanford, which is ranked No. 28 in the most recent RPI, hosts California Saturday-Monday. Sunday and Monday's games will be televised on Pac-12 Networks.
