STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford senior Rachel Williams has been selected as the Pac-12 women’s volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for Nov. 18-24, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.
Williams led Stanford offensively as the Cardinal earned sweeps over No. 3 Washington and Washington State last week, pacing the team with 3.67 kills, 4.58 points and 3.33 digs per set in the two matches. She entered the week hitting .219, but recorded a .475 attack percentage in the matches against the Washington schools.
Williams led all Stanford players with 11 kills on a .529 hitting percentage to go with nine digs, four blocks and two aces as the Cardinal handed the third-ranked Huskies their first 3-0 loss of the season. Against WSU, Williams finished with her team-best ninth double-double of the year with 11 kills and 11 digs as she hit .435 to help head coach John Dunning become just the fourth active NCAA Division I head coach to reach the 800-win plateau.
Williams earns the second weekly award of her career from the Pac-12 and first this season. Stanford leads the conference with 87 weekly awards all-time. The Cardinal is currently on a seven-match winning streak and has posted 3-0 sweeps in 18 of its 22 wins on the season.
Stanford concludes the regular season this week at Arizona on Wednesday, Nov. 27 before returning to The Farm to host California on Senior Night, Friday, Nov. 29.
