STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford middle blocker Carly Wopat has been selected as the Pac-12 women’s volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for Nov. 11-17, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.
Wopat led the team defensively to wins at Oregon (3-1) and Oregon State (3-0) last week, improving the Cardinal to 20-5 overall and 13-3 in the Pac-12. The Santa Barbara, Calif., native averaged 2.00 blocks per set and 0.57 digs per set while also leading the team with 4.36 points and 3.29 kills per set.
Wopat registered her first double-double of the season at Oregon, tallying 10 kills and a season-best 12 blocks. As a team, the Cardinal produced a season-high 18 blocks against the Ducks. At OSU, Wopat led all players with 13 kills to go with two blocks and two digs as Stanford remained undefeated in the all-time series (58-0) against the Beavers.
Wopat earns the sixth weekly award from the Pac-12 of her career (second defensive) and her second this season. Stanford paces the conference with 86 weekly awards all-time.
Stanford plays host to third-ranked Washington on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. and Washington State on Friday, Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. Both matches will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
