STANFORD, Calif. – Eight players scored two goals apiece for Stanford in an 18-6 victory over UC Davis in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women’s lacrosse action on Tuesday night at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.
Four different scorers combined for four goals in the game’s first 3:07 to spark No. 13 Stanford (11-2 overall, 5-1 MPSF). The Cardinal went on to build an 8-1 lead in the first 12 minutes and eventually built a 10-goal lead to necessitate a running clock for the game’s final 26 minutes.
Hannah Farr scored two goals and had four draw controls to match teammate Megan Lerner’s total. Other Stanford two-goal scorers were Kyle Fraser, Anna Kim, Meg Lentz, Kelsey Murray, Rachel Ozer, Alex Poplawski, and Paige Southmayd.
“We were really disciplined, particularly on the defensive end,” Stanford coach Amy Bokker said. “And I liked the way we’re sharing the ball on the offensive end. Everybody is getting their touches and we had a lot of goal scorers.”
Stanford needs one more victory in its final three regular-season games to clinch a spot in the six-team MPSF tournament. The Cardinal sits in second place behind Denver (7-0 MPSF), which must lose its final two games for Stanford to have a chance at the No. 1 seed.
“From top to bottom, I felt everybody contributed,” Bokker said. “And that’s something that’s really important going into these next three games.”
Tuesday’s game marked the first of three in a six-day stretch. Stanford plays at San Diego State on Friday and USC on Sunday in a game televised by the Pac-12 Networks.
