STANFORD, Calif.- No. 4 Stanford returns to action on Friday, March 14, hosting No. 42 Washington in its Pac-12 opener at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
The Cardinal (8-0) remains unbeaten after last week’s 5-2 road win over California and jumped five spots in this week’s edition of the national rankings.
It’s easy to see why Stanford has been so impressive through the first two months. The Cardinal’s entire singles lineup is ranked among the top-40: Kristie Ahn (2), Taylor Davidson (27), Carol Zhao (29), Caroline Doyle (34), Krista Hardebeck (39) and Ellen Tsay (40). Two doubles teams are also ranked: Ahn/Zhao (17) and Davidson/Tsay (27).
After Friday’s matchup against the Huskies (10-4, 0-2 Pac-12), the Cardinal will be idle until a road match at Utah on March 23.
Earlier this week, Stanford was invited to attend a celebration of 2012-13 NCAA Championship teams at the White House, with President Barack Obama offering congratulations and recognizing each program individually. The NCAA Champions ceremony took place Monday on the South Lawn of the White House and included a tour.
