STANFORD, Calif.- Eight members of the 2012-13 Stanford men's tennis team have been honored as ITA All-Academic Team honorees.
Jamin Ball, Sam Ecker, Denis Lin, John Morrissey, Maciek Romanowicz, Robert Stineman, Trey Strobel and Anthony Tsodikov were selected as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: (1) be a varsity letterwinner, (2) have a GPA of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and (3) have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
Meanwhile, the ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team GPA of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2012 and spring 2013).
This represents the ninth time overall Stanford has earned this honor since the award's inception in 2002, having also been selected in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
