STANFORD, Calif. – Junior Patrick Rodgers has been named the Pac-12 Conference Men’s Golfer of the Month for March, as announced Tuesday by the conference.
The Avon, Ind., native paced the Cardinal with a pair of first-place finishes as Stanford tied for second at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters and took top team honors at The Goodwin with a 20-stroke victory.
At the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters in Las Vegas, Rodgers fired a 1-over 271 (74-69-74) to take individual honors by two strokes. He then established a tournament record at The Goodwin with a 14-under 196 (63-69-64) to win by six strokes over USC’s Rico Hoey. The Goodwin, played on the Stanford Golf Course, has been held annually since 1968.
Rodgers has now taken three straight medalist honors and four this season. For his Stanford career, he has won nine tournaments and is just two wins shy of matching Tiger Woods’ school record of 11 victories.
With Stanford’s performance in March, the Cardinal moved up to No. 6 in the latest Golfweek rankings.
