STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford’s season came to a close Sunday night when it was not selected as one of the 64 teams to the NCAA Tournament.
The Cardinal finished the season 30-25 overall, marking the 18th consecutive year Stanford recorded a winning record. It will be the first postseason without the Cardinal in 17 years.
Despite not being selected to the tournament, there were plenty of positives for Stanford during the season and to look forward to next year. The Cardinal picked up big conference wins against No. 2/2 UCLA and No. 10/10 Washington, and was the only non-top-five team in the country to defeat the Bruins.
Stanford boasts victories against seven teams selected to the tournament, including UCLA, Washington, San Diego State, Northwestern, BYU, NC State and Bradley.
While the season did not end with a postseason berth, the Cardinal will look to build on this year’s successes as it returns a strong foundation next year, including all 10 starters.
