STANFORD, Calif. – No. 17/14 Stanford will look to continue its momentum after an impressive season-opening weekend, as the Cardinal plays host to the Stanford Nike Invitational this weekend at Boyd and Jill Smith Family Stadium.

Stanford will play five games over three days, including two matchups against Cal Poly and Bradley, and a Sunday afternoon game against Pacific.

The Cardinal opens the invitational Friday at 2:30 p.m. (PT) against Cal Poly, followed by a 4:45 p.m. matchup against Bradley.

Stanford was solid at the Kajikawa Classic, winning all six games and outscoring opponents 60-6. The Cardinal batted .413 as a team with 25 hits going for extra bases, including eight home runs, while holding opponents to a .147 average.

Freshmen pitchers Madi Schreyer (4-0) and Carley Hoover (2-0) had impressive collegiate debuts in the circle, combining for 38 strikeouts in 28.0 innings of work. Schreyer and junior Nyree White teamed up for a five-inning no-hitter against Western Michigan.

White notched four strikeouts and did not allow a run in 5.0 innings of work over the weekend.

The Cardinal had a big weekend at the plate, recording 69 hits, 57 RBI and 113 total bases over six games. Seven Stanford starters batted .417 or higher.

Bessie Noll made her collegiate debut and led the Cardinal in batting average (.647) and hits (11). She finished the weekend with seven RBI, two doubles and a home run. Classmate Kylie Sorenson also made strong contributions, with eight RBI, three doubles and a home run to bat .444.

Cassandra Roulund was productive at the plate, hitting .526 with seven RBI, four doubles and two home runs. She led the team with 20 total bases.

Reigning Pac-12 Newcomer of the Year Kayla Bonstrom picked up where she left off in 2013, hitting .467 with a team-high nine RBI.

Leah White went 9-for-18 (.500) and led the squad with four stolen bases. Jessica Plaza provided plenty of power with a team-best three home runs.
