STANFORD, Calif. - Each week GoStanford.com will feature a Q-and-A with a different member of the 2014 Stanford softball team. This week, get to know freshman infielder/outfielder Lauren Bertoy.

Why did you decide to come to Stanford?
Many reasons, but the combination of excellent academics and athletics is at the top of the list.

When you were a kid and even now, who would be your role models in the sport?
Joe Mauer and Torii Hunter.

What is one tip you would give to a student-athlete to be successful in school and their sport?
Other than having good time management, I would say take advantage of all the resources available to you and be proactive in seeking help.

What are your favorite and least favorite training drills?
Favorite: batting practice
Least Favorite: infield warm up/roll ground balls

What is your major at Stanford, and what are your career aspirations?
I’m undeclared but interested in math and science, and I hope to go into engineering or medicine.

What is one personal goal for the 2014 season?
Help my team win a national championship.

What is the best advice you have ever gotten, and from whom?
“Life isn’t always fair, deal with it.” – My dad.

What are three things on your bucket list?
1. See a game at every MLB ballpark
2. Travel to Europe
3. Break a world record

One word to describe yourself?
Sarcastic.

“Lose Yourself” by Eminem

Favorite thing to do for fun?
Watching sports or playing ping-pong.

Guiltiest indulgence?
Binge-watching Netflix and anything chocolate.

Spaghetti or any type of pasta.

Mean Girls and Bridesmaids.

What is your spirit animal?
Horse.

Who would play you in a movie?
Emma Watson.

People might be surprised to know that…
I used to do ballet when I was younger.
