Hello Stanford softball fans!
Welcome to Stanford softball’s first blog post for the upcoming 2014 season! I’m so excited to be bringing you a behind the scenes look into the Stanford softball team in my blog posts.
First and foremost, many of you are probably wondering who I am. My name is Kayla Bonstrom, but on the softball field, everyone knows me as Bon. I’m a sophomore first baseman/utility player and I cannot be more excited to share the inside scoop on this upcoming season with all of you!
Even though the season hasn’t started quite yet, I thought it’d be a good idea to get the word out and let everyone know what the team has been up to this fall. We were proud to welcome five amazing freshman to our family – Bessie Noll, Carley Hoover, Kylie Sorenson, Madi Schreyer, and Lauren Bertoy – all of whom have made an impact on our program already.
As a whole, we have all been working very hard this fall in preparation for the 2014 season. Every practice we come out with the upcoming season in mind and the determination to be the best we can.
Stanford Athletics has a rich tradition of champions and this past fall was awarded our 19th consecutive Directors' Cup. Also, without games to be played, we have been busy cheering on all of our other awesome teams and visiting some of the Boys and Girls Clubs around Stanford to give back to our community. All of us had a blast talking to the kids and playing dodgeball and whiffle ball with them! It was such a great experience working with the kids and spending time with them.

After finals, everyone went back home to celebrate the holidays with their families. Before we left, we did get to share some festivities as a team. Our holiday party was held at Coach Rittman’s house this year and was filled with pizza, cake, a white elephant exchange and some holiday themed games thanks to Coach Olivarez! Even though our games got a little competitive, we all had a blast!
So from our family to yours, Happy Holidays!

I hope to see everyone out at our games this year cheering us on! Remember, we kick off the season in Arizona at the Kajikawa Classic so if you’re in Arizona Feb. 6-9 we would love it if you stopped by and showed your support.
Until next time,
