STANFORD, Calif. – Leticia Olivarez, who served as the volunteer assistant coach for the Stanford softball team in 2012 and 2013, joins the staff as an assistant coach for the upcoming season, head coach John Rittman announced today.

Olivarez replaces Danielle Henderson, who left the program to take the associate head coaching position at her alma mater, UMass.

“We are happy for Danielle and the opportunity that she will have as the associate head coach at her alma mater,” said Rittman.

Olivarez first came to The Farm in 2012 as a volunteer assistant coach. She has spent the past two seasons working with the Cardinal pitching staff as well as assisting in all other areas of the program.

“We are pleased to announce the hiring of Leticia Olivarez as our new assistant coach,” said Rittman. “She has been our volunteer coach the last two years and has done a phenomenal job, not only working with our pitchers, but in all aspects of the team. She will make a smooth transition working with our players and staff, and will help our program succeed.”

Olivarez was a standout pitcher at Wisconsin from 2007-10. As a senior in 2010, she was a third team All-Big Ten pick and led UW in nearly all pitching statistics. She twice tied the school record for strikeouts in a game with 17. Offensively, she became just the eighth player in school history to hit two home runs in a single game, going 3-for-3 with two homers and a double against Michigan State.
