Entering her second season as a member of the Cardinal coaching staff is Dena Evans. Evans is a 1996 graduate of Stanford, where she racked up three All-American honors as a middle distance runner. Evans possesses a wealth of experience in track and field, and cross country, from the age group level through high school, college and into the post collegiate setting. She will work primarily with the middle distance and distance runners.

As a student-athlete for the Cardinal, the former Dena Dey enjoyed tremendous success both in and out of the classroom. An honor student each of her four years at Stanford, Evans received a prestigious NCAA post-graduate scholarship in 1996. Evans then earned a MA degree in Education in 1997. In addition to her three All-American awards, Dena and her teammates broke school records in the 4x1500 meter and distance medley relays. She was also an All Pac-10 selection in track from 1992-1996, and a 1996 Olympic Trials qualifier in the 1,500 meters. Dena was elected captain of the Cardinal in her final seasons and honored as the team's MVP her senior year.

Evans makes the transition to the track and field staff from serving as the administrative associate for student-athlete services at Stanford. She has also taught high school students and worked with USA Track & Field since her graduation from The Farm.

Evans is married to former Cardinal football wide receiver, Marlon Evans.
