CGA Academic Team Champions

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford men’s gymnastics was named 2013 National Academic Team Champion and 13 Cardinal earned All-America Scholar-Athlete honors, as announced Friday by the College Gymnastics Association.

Stanford posted a team grade-point average of 3.445 to claim the nation’s top academic mark. Seven student-athletes were named to the first team and five earned second-team honors.

Firstteam All-America Scholar-Athletes include Jonathan Deaton, Mike Levy, Brian Knott, Gabriel Alvarado, Dennis Zaremski, Jordan Nolff and James Fosco. It was Alvarado’s fourth first-team honor of his career.

Chris Turner, David Frankl, Cameron Foreman, Sean Senters, Paul Hichwa and Kevin Baker were named to the second team.

Eighty-eight gymnasts received first-team honors for earning a GPA of 3.50 or higher, while 45 were recognized on the second team with a GPA between 3.20 and 3.499.
