VARESE, Italy – Stanford lightweight rowers Brittany Presten and Christine Cavallo opened up the Under-23 World Championships in Varese, Italy with fourth place in their heat.
The two Cardinal rowers are the bookends for the USA lightweight quadruple skull with Presten in stroke seat and Cavallo in the bow seat.
The American boat was in fourth place for the majority of the race, finishing in that spot with a time of 7:16.28. They finished ahead of Austria, while trailing Italy, Switzerland and Great Britain.
Cavallo and Presten will get another chance to race tomorrow when they compete in the reps of the event at 6:14 p.m. in Italy.
