RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. – Four Stanford signees competed at the 2014 USRowing Youth National Championships on Lake Natoma over the weekend, combining to make the A Finals in all six of their events.
The signees went head-to-head in three different races with two each in the A Finals of the Women’s Lightweight Youth 8+, 4+ and 2x events.
The top two spots in the 2x went to future Stanford lightweights. Taylor Harris from the Seattle Rowing Club went under eight minutes in the race to beat future teammate Keagan Hanley of Manhasset. Harris notched a 7:56.781 for first, while Hanley’s double went 8:04.220 for second. The two rowers from opposite sides of the country with one from Washington and the other from New York will join forces next year on the Farm.
In the B Final of the 2x, local signee Alex Warner from Menlo Park placed third for ninth place overall.
Hanley also competed in the 4+ race, again taking second place as she crossed the finish line in 7:59.367, less than two seconds back of the winner. This time she was able to finish ahead of her future classmate though as Hannah Levy from Long Beach took third with a time of 8:08.545.
Levy also notched a third place finish in the Women's Lightweight 8+ event with a time of 7:21.121.
Stanford has signed eight individuals for this year’s class.
