CRCA National Coach of the Year awards

CRCA Lightweight Pocock All-America Team

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford women's lightweight rowing head coach Al Acosta earned his fifth CRCA National Coach of the Year honor and Cardinal crewmembers Alex Cours, Jordan Duval-Smith and Liz Fenje were all named to the Pocock All-America Team, the organization announced Monday.

For Acosta it is the fourth straight season in which he earned the CRCA's top coaching award, while Fenje was named to the All-America Team for the third straight year and Duval-Smith the second. Cours earned her first All-America honor.

All were part of the Stanford I Eight that captured the IRA National Championship June 2 with a four-second victory. The national title was the program's fourth in a row.

The crew opened the season with a victory at the San Diego Crew Classic in early April and finished second at the WIRA Championships, coming in just under a second back of Gonzaga's openweight boat.

The Cardinal led all schools with three All-America selections, with Harvard and Wisconsin each landing two rowers and Bucknell and Georgetown earning one spot apiece.
