WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Stanford fifth-year forward Courtney Verloo earned her first All-Pac-12 first-team honor and was among five Cardinal to receive all-conference recognition.

Freshman defender Maddie Bauer and junior midfielder Lo’eau LaBonta were second-team selections, and junior forward Chioma Ubogagu was honorable mention. Also, Bauer and midfielder Stephanie Amack were named to the All-Freshman team.

All will be in action Friday when the Cardinal plays host to Cal State Fullerton in an NCAA tournament first-round match at 7 p.m.

This is the third all-conference selection for Verloo, who was a second-team defender in 2010 and honorable mention forward last season. Verloo, from Tualatin, Ore., is leading the Cardinal in scoring for the second consecutive season. She has nine goals and six assists for a team-high 24 points. She also five game-winning goals.

Verloo becomes the 33rd Stanford player to be named to the all-conference first team, since the Pac-12 first created the honor in 1995.

Bauer has been a rock in the central defense for Stanford, starting all but one match and becoming a true leader in the back line.

LaBonta, who scored a dramatic tying goal against UCLA in an eventual double-overtime loss, has stood out as a hard-working attacking midfielder with an eye for the goal. This is the second all-conference selection for LaBonta, an honorable mention choice last season. She has four goals this year.

Ubogagu is on track to become a four-time all-conference selection. This is her third conference honor. The 2011 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year is a dynamic and skillful player who is typically the most exciting player on the field. She has two goals and six assists.

Amack has started 12 matches as a holding midfielder and is among three freshmen who are regular starters for the Cardinal.
