STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford released its 2014 football schedule Wednesday, which includes six home games and a pair of Friday night matchups. The 12-game slate will pit the two-time defending Pac-12 champion Cardinal against six teams ranked in the final Associated Press top 25 poll.

The Cardinal opens the season with three straight home games at Stanford Stadium, with a Pac-12 Conference tilt against USC (Sept. 6) sandwiched between two non-conference contests. Stanford opens the season at home against UC Davis (Aug. 30) and later faces Army (Sept. 13) to wrap up the three-game homestand.

Consecutive road games at Washington (Sept. 27) and Notre Dame (Oct. 4) will be followed by a Friday night home battle against Washington State (Oct. 10).

Stanford travels to Arizona State (Oct. 18) before playing host to Oregon State (Oct. 25) in what will be the University’s Reunion Homecoming.

The Cardinal goes on the road three times in the final month of the regular season. After a trip to Oregon (Nov. 1), Stanford plays host to Utah (Nov. 15) in what will be the Cardinal’s home finale.

The 117th edition of the Big Game will be played at Cal (Nov. 22) before Stanford closes the season with a Friday night affair at UCLA (Nov. 28).

The Pac-12 Football Championship Game is set for Dec. 5.

Every football game played at Pac-12 sites will be televised. A combination of the ESPN channels, ABC, FOX and FOX Sports 1 will broadcast 44 games nationally and Pac-12 Networks will offer 35 games to a national audience. Exact broadcast schedules will be determined at a later date.

Ticket demand for Stanford football is at an all-time high as fans packed Stanford Stadium throughout the 2013 regular season, selling out both season tickets and the entire seven-game home campaign for the first time in program history.

With ticket shortages for marquee games, including the last two Rose Bowl Games serving as a backdrop, fans are reminded that the only guaranteed method of securing bowl tickets is through season tickets. Stanford season ticket holders will be provided first priority to purchase 2014 postseason and bowl tickets. Those renewals will begin later this month with details available at

Stanford (11-3 overall, 7-2 Pac-12) enjoyed a fourth consecutive BCS bowl appearance to cap off the 2013 campaign, making the Cardinal just one of five programs to accomplish that feat. The Cardinal finished the year ranked 11th in the final AP poll, following its 24-20 setback against No. 3 Michigan State on Jan. 1 in the 100th Rose Bowl Game. The Cardinal earned the automatic bid to the Rose Bowl Game following a convincing 38-14 victory at Arizona State in the Pac-12 title match. will provide expanded coverage and details in the coming weeks highlighting the Cardinal's series history with each of the 2014 opponents.
