Signing Day Central

STANFORD, Calif. - Wednesday will mark the culmination of more than a year of Cardinal recruiting as Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football David Shaw announces Stanford's 2013 signing class on National Letter of Intent Signing Day.

Fans can track the class Feb. 6 as each National Letter of Intent is signed, delivered and validated by viewing Stanford's 2013 Signing Day Central page on GoStanford.com and by following @StanfordFball on Twitter. Every new Cardinal will be profiled with detailed bios, photos and highlight videos.

The Cardinal Channel, the creative video production team of Stanford Athletics, will offer videos on Signing Day of Coach Shaw at his press conference and speaking in depth about the 2013 class. In the days to follow, the Cardinal assistant coaches will break down each of the new Stanford signees in the Class of 2013. Find these videos and more at youtube.com/stanfordathletics.

A year after signing 22 scholar-athletes to a National Letter of Intent, and with a small class of graduating seniors from the Rose Bowl Game team, the Cardinal is expected to sign a modestly sized crop in 2013 with its available scholarships.

Stanford in recent years has demonstrated both the ability to recruit the nation's top talent and the willingness to put that talent on the field early. Following the Cardinal's 2012 signing class of a year ago, 11 true freshmen saw the field for the Pac-12 Champions, encompassing all three phases of the game on offense, defense and special teams.

Alex Carter started the final eight games of the year at cornerback from the Class of 2012, while Joshua Garnett and Kyle Murphy became the first Stanford true freshmen to start on the offensive line since 2000. Eight members of the freshman class started at least one special teams unit this past fall.

Each Cardinal hero's journey begins on Signing Day - from two-star Owen Marecic in 2007 to five-star Andrew Luck in 2008 to three-star David Yankey in 2010. The next Stanford stars sign on Feb. 6. Who's next?
