STANFORD, Calif. - The two-time defending Pac-12 champion Stanford Cardinal put its 2014 edition on full display to the public Saturday morning with an open practice at the Elliott Practice Field.
Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football David Shaw showcased a variety of drills utilizing team and one-on-one situations in a fast-paced practice spanning three fields.
The practice also served as a centerpiece for the Pac-12 Networks' Training Camp special, which will debut Saturday night at 9 p.m. (Preview).
The show goes behind-scenes to demonstrate Stanford's unique sports performance system under Kissick Family Director of Football Sports Performance Shannon Turley. The feature also went "mic'd up" with 35-year coaching veteran and first-year defensive backs coach at Stanford Duane Akina.
Back to Saturday's practice field, Atlanta, Ga., native and psychology pre-med major Ronnie Harris had the highlight of the day with his interception return for a touchdown during one of the Cardinal's 25 live tackling plays.
Fans got an in-depth view of competition for playing time at running back, inside linebacker and the defensive secondary.
