STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford junior strong safety Jordan Richards has been named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week, as announced Monday.
Richards, who hails from Folsom, Calif., intercepted two passes, broke up another pass and recorded a team-leading 10 tackles as Stanford defeated No. 9 UCLA, 24-10, at Stanford Stadium.
Both of Richards’ interceptions came in the second half and set up Stanford touchdowns, which proved to be the difference in the game.
It was the first multi-interception game of his career.
In the first half, Stanford’s defense limited UCLA’s high-powered offense to just 84 yards and a field goal.
Stanford returns to the field this week when the Cardinal travels to Oregon State for a 7:30 p.m. (PT) game in Corvallis, Ore.
