The Lowdown
• No. 5 Stanford resumes the spring season at the UC Irvine Invitational (Feb. 24-25) at Santa Ana Country Club (Calif.).

• The UC Irvine Invitational will be the second of five tournaments slated for the Cardinal this spring.

• Stanford has a chance to win consecutive tournaments for the first time since the spring portion of the 2013 season, when it was victorious in three straight events (Peg Barnard Invitational, Cal Classic and Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational).

The Tournament
• UC Irvine will host the 54-hole UC Irvine Invitational presented by Kia.

• The winner of the UC Irvine Invitational will receive a sponsor exemption in to the 2014 Kia Classic (March 27-30) at Aviara Golf Club in Carlsbad, Calif.

• Alice Kim of Gonzaga won last year’s event with a three-round score of 215 (67-72-76). Gonzaga captured the team title with a two-day total of 885 (295-298-292).

The Field
• The tournament field includes No. 5 Stanford, No. 11 Pepperdine, Texas A&M, UC Davis, UC Riverside, Hawaii, Nevada, Portland State, San Francisco, Long Beach State, Gonzaga, Idaho and host UC Irvine.

The Course
• The event will be held at the par-72 Santa Ana Country Club, which will play at 5,842 yards.

The Scoop
• Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women’s Golf Anne Walker previews the event …
“We are looking forward to the upcoming event in Southern California. There is a lot to play for this week. I believe we will get great contributions from all of our players, and hopefully we can view for the title.”

The Last Time Out
• No. 5 Stanford took a four-shot lead into the final round of the 36-hole Peg Barnard Invitational and never looked back, claiming the title over the 14-team field for the second straight season.

• The team crown, Stanford’s eighth such since the tournament’s inception in 1995, came with a collaborative 2-over 570 (287-283). To put it in perspective, the Cardinal’s score was 16 strokes better than second-place UC Davis (586).

• The Cardinal was boosted from standout performances by Lauren Kim and Casey Danielson, who scorched the par-71 Stanford Golf Course for respective final-round scores of 68 and 69. The pair finished tied for second at 3-under 139. Each tallied one bogey in the final round.

The Next Time Out
• The Cardinal will travel to the East Coast for the Darius Rucker Invitational (March 7-9) in Hilton Head, S.C.
