KAILUA KONA, Hawaii – Stanford wrapped up the fall portion of its schedule Tuesday at the Pac-12 Preview played on Nanea Golf Course. The third-ranked Cardinal placed three players in the top 25 of the stacked tournament, which featured many of the best women’s players in collegiate golf.

Stanford’s 7-over was good enough for sixth among the 12-team field. The Cardinal posted respective rounds of 292-289-302 at the par-71 course.

USC went 284-288-289 to post the win at 15-under, one stroke better than second-place UCLA.

“This wasn’t our best event, but it exposed a lot of weaknesses in our crew, which will be beneficial heading into the offseason,” Stanford’s Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women’s Golf Anne Walker said.

The tournament wrapped up a fall season in which the Cardinal racked five top-10 finishes in as many events, including a first-place showing at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational.

Stanford will have plenty of time to fine-tune its game as it returns to action when it plays host to the Peg Barnard Invitational (Feb. 15-16) at Stanford Golf Course. The 2012 edition of the event was highlighted by then-freshman Mariah Stackhouse’s course-record 10-under 61. Stackhouse was 9-under with a 26 on the front nine of her final round.

Stackhouse’s 3-under through the 54-hole Pac-12 Preview was good for seventh.

Mariko Tumangan followed rounds of 69 and 74 with a 78 for a 2-over 221 and 20th-place finish.

Lauren Kim (74-76-73) tied for 22nd, Casey Danielson (78-70-80) was 36th and Quirine Eijkenboom (78-74-77) tied for 37th.

Kim’s even-par third round led all Cardinal on Tuesday. Eijkenboom was the lone Cardinal to reach 2-under at any point during the final 18, racking birdies on two of her first six holes before falling to 4-over on the day.
