STANFORD, Calif. - Nine Stanford wrestlers were named to the Pac-12 All-Academic teams, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. The Cardinal had at least five more selections than any other team in the conference.

Earning first team honors for Stanford were redshirt senior Kyle Meyer and senior Dan Scherer. Meyer, a psychology major, is a repeat first team-member after earning second-team honors in 2010-11. Scherer, who is majoring in management science and engineering, picks up his first career first team accolades and his third honors overall.

Stanford had four student-athletes selected to the second team, led by senior Donovan Halpin. A product design major, Halpin picks up his third consecutive all-academic award. Redshirt sophomore Michael Sojka garners his second career honors, while sophomore Tommy Kimbrell and redshirt freshman Maxwell Hvolbek earn their first awards.

The Cardinal has three players earn honorable mention. Being recognized for the first time in their careers are redshirt senior Ryan Mango, redshirt freshman Peter Galli and redshirt freshman Josh Marchok.

CSU Bakersfield, Boise State, Cal Poly and Oregon State had four selections each, while Arizona State had two picks.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be a significant contributor to his team.
