STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford head coach Jason Borrelli and his staff have signed seven promising high school seniors to wrestle for the Cardinal beginning next fall. The class contains five wrestlers ranked among the top-100 overall recruits, including the No. 8 prospect.
The Stanford incoming class consists of Walker Dempsey (Blair Academy/149/157 pounds), Boomer Fleming (Ridgeview High School/184/197 pounds), Paul Fox (Gilroy High School/157 pounds), Isaiah Locsin (Gilroy High School/141 pounds), Joey McKenna (Blair Academy/141/149 pounds), Mason Pengilly (Porterville High School/133 pounds) and Brian Rossi (Lockport High School/125 pounds).
“We are thrilled with this recruiting class,” said Borrelli. “Each student-athlete will play a key part in helping the Stanford wrestling program climb to the top of the NCAA ranks. Recruiting has improved every year and this year’s class may be our best to date.”
McKenna, the No. 8 overall prospect as rated by InterMat, is the highest overall ranked recruit to ever sign with the Cardinal. He and Dempsey hail from Blair Academy in New Jersey where current Stanford starters Evan Silver and Maxwell Hvolbek also conducted their prep careers.
Stanford’s three California recruits, Fox, Locsin and Pengilly, all have a chance to become four-time state medalists, a feat that has only been accomplished by 29 others in the history of California high school wrestling.

He placed fifth at the FloNationals in 2013, securing All-America honors, and was the NHSCA Freshman National Champion.
