Alie and Kay Rusher
Rusher Sisters in Canadian Henley

ST. CATHARINES, Ontario, Canada –Stanford rowing sisters Kay Rusher and Alie Rusher teamed up to row at the 132nd Royal Canadian Henley Regatta this past week.

The pair from Glenview, Ill. was among 2,800 men and women in one of the largest amateur regattas in the world.

Racing in the U23 Women’s Pair event, the Rusher tandem placed fifth overall. In the finals race, the duo from Stanford put forth a solid race. Three boats were in the mix for the bronze and the Rusher sisters came in just behind two Cambridge boats. They clocked a 7:41.46, just one second back of fourth place.

Kay and Alie started out with the fastest time in the fifth and final heat. By placing first in the race with a time of 7:52.866 they moved on to the semifinals.

In the semifinals, the Rusher sisters had to finish in the top two to advance to the finals. They did just that, recording a time of 7:49.634, to come in second in semifinal #2.
