STANFORD, Calif. –  Stanford senior wide receiver Ty Montgomery has been named to the watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, which recognizes the outstanding receiver in college football. The award is presented by the the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc.

The award recipient is selected by a 221-member selection committee and will be presented live on December 11, 2014, on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show. College and Pro Football Hall of Famer Fred Biletnikoff will announce the 2014 winner on the show.

Ten Biletnikoff Award semifinalists will be announced November 17 and three finalists will be declared November 24.

Montgomery has previously been named to watch lists for the Maxwell Award (player of the year) and the Hornung Award (most versatile).

Montgomery is already well-versed in major awards. Following an electrifying 2013 season, he was a consensus All-America selection and received the Johnny “The Jet” Rodgers Award as the national return specialist of the year.

Earlier this summer Montgomery was named as Phil Steele’s preseason all-purpose player of the year as well as an all-conference first teamer at wide receiver. He also garnered preseason All-America honors at specialist by Athlon and at kick returner by the Sporting News.

A political science major at Stanford, Montgomery finished second nationally in kickoff return average (30.3) in 2013. Montgomery was the only player on a BCS conference team with two kickoff returns for a touchdown. He finished ninth nationally in all-purpose yards (157.7/game) in 2013, with 2,208 all-purpose yards. The team’s leading pass catcher in 13 of its 14 games of 2013, Montgomery caught 61 passes for 958 yards (15.7 yards per reception) with 10 touchdowns.

Stanford’s season opens Aug. 30 with a 1 p.m. (PT) home game against UC Davis on Pac-12 Networks. The Cardinal plays its first three games at home with USC visiting the Stadium Sept. 6 (12:30 p.m., ABC) and Army visiting Sept. 13 (2 p.m., Pac-12 Net).

Season tickets are on sale with five sections and price levels already sold out. Three-game Mini plans are also on sale now.

Season ticket holders are eligible to purchase individual game tickets for all 2014 home games starting July 8-9. Single-game tickets go on sale July 21 with a special online-only promotion code through Stanford’s Facebook and @GoStanford Twitter account. All tickets are on sale starting July 22.
