STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford men’s gymnastics added depth to its 2014-15 lineup when Jacob Barrus and Drew Burton committed to join the Cardinal in the fall.

The duo joins early commits Robert Neff and Ryan Sheppard who both signed National Letters of Intent in November of 2013.

Barrus, a native of Dallas, Texas, joins Stanford after training with Ridgewood Gymnastics and graduating from the School of Business and Management at Townview. He finished second on floor and 13th in the all-around at the 2014 Junior Olympics National Championships. Barrus also tallied a third-place result in the all-around at the 2014 Region III Championships.

Burton joins the Cardinal from Aurora, Colo., after training at the Colorado Training Center and graduating from Connections Academy. He competed in the all-around at a variety of elite national competitions and placed 10th in the all-around at the 2014 Junior Olympics National Championships. Burton was a member of the Region IX team from 2009-14.

The pair joins a Stanford team that continued to showcase its status as one of the nation’s elite programs in 2014, earning its eighth top-three finish at the NCAA Championships in the past nine seasons.

The Cardinal completed the season with a third-place finish at the national championships for a second consecutive year. Stanford went 15-7, registering 15 wins over top-10 opponents, including six ranked in the top five. Five Cardinal gymnasts combined for eight All-America honors.
