STANFORD, Calif. – Mariah Stackhouse has received a sponsor’s exemption into the Marathon Classic presented by Owens Corning & O-I, as announced Wednesday. The event is slated for July 17-20 at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio.

Stackhouse was a key player on the United States Curtis Cup team in St. Louis, winning three points to lead the United States to a lopsided victory over Great Britain and Ireland. Stackhouse also became the first African-American to play in the Curtis Cup matches since the inception of the event in 1932.

Stackhouse drew rave reviews for not only her play but also for her leadership abilities by giving an impassioned speech to inspire her team to a 3-0 start after the first day.

Stackhouse, a rising junior, has won four tournaments in her first two collegiate seasons, including the 2012 Peg Barnard Invitational where she shot an NCAA-record 61 in the final round.

“We are delighted to have Mariah in this year’s Marathon Classic field,” said tournament director Judd Silverman. “Mariah is one of the best women amateurs in the country with impeccable credentials both on and off the course. She has all the ability to be a great LPGA professional someday.”

This year’s Marathon Classic will include notable LPGA stars Stacy Lewis and 2014 LPGA winners Paula Creamer, Lexi Thompson and Michelle Wie.
