• Cal Quantrill (7-5, 2.69)
vs. Carson Fulmer (6-1, 1.42)

NASHVILLE -- Stanford faces elimination for the fourth time in its last five games Saturday afternoon. Vanderbilt opened a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three Super Regional with an 11-6 win yesterday and sits one win away from a berth to the College World Series in Omaha.

Right-hander Cal Quantrill, an All-Tournament Team selection at the Bloomington Regional, gets the ball for the Cardinal against highly-touted Vanderbilt righty Carson Fulmer. Quantrill was pushed to Saturday after throwing 38 pitches over 2.1 innings of relief in the deciding game against Indiana Monday night.

Quantrill, a Freshman All-American, must navigate a tricky doubleheader, as he will take a physics final after the game. The Cardinal is in the heart of Stanford's end-of-quarter examination period before the university's 123rd Commencement on June 15.

Danny Diekroeger, featured in the tweet above, and Austin Slater were both selected in yesterday's MLB First-Year Player Draft. Slater went in the eighth round to the San Francisco, while Diekroeger was taken with the last pick of the day in the 10th round to St. Louis. The draft continues today with many more Cardinal waiting for their phones to ring with MLB organizations on the other line.

Stanford looks to force a third and deciding game, which would be played Sunday at noon PT on ESPN2.
