STANFORD, Calif. -- Danny Diekroeger was selected to the Capital One Academic All-America second team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Friday.

The senior from Woodside, Calif., carries a 3.80 grade-point average in computer science. He was named to the Academic All-District team to be eligible for all-America selection.

Diekroeger, a two-time Academic All-Pac-12 selection, has started 106 straight games for the Cardinal. He is hitting .302 with 13 doubles and 19 RBI, while helping Stanford to its third NCAA regional in his four years on The Farm.

The first baseman, an all-conference and Pac-12 Defensive Team pick, has also anchored the best defensive corps in the conference. Diekroeger’s steady play at first has the Cardinal just .001 off of the program’s all-time best fielding percentage mark.

North Dakota State’s Tim Cowell was named Academic All-American of the Year. Cowell, a zoology major with a 4.00 GPA, was the Summit League Player of the Year.
