Stanford women’s water polo had a conference-high 11 members named All-Academic Scholar-Athletes by the MPSF Friday morning.
To earn the honor, a candidate must possess a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.00, be at least a sophomore academically, have completed one full year at the institution prior to this season, and have competed in at least 50 percent of their institution’s competitions during the season.
In all, Stanford had four seniors, three juniors and four sophomores recognized. Seniors Annika Dries (3.40) and Kelsey Suggs (3.20) made their third appearances on the list, fellow senior Kaley Dodson (3.07) and Lexie Ross (3.15) along with junior Ashley Grossman (3.52) earned their second respective selections to the list, and juniors Emily Dorst (3.40) and Cory Dodson (3.14), along with sophomores Gurpreet Sohi (3.08), Maggie Steffens (3.45), Gabby Stone (3.35) and Anna Yelizarova (3.14) each were honored for the first time.
Stanford claimed the championship double in 2014, capturing its fourth NCAA title and third in four years along with its first MPSF Championship since 2006. The Cardinal finished the season with a final record of 25-1.
