STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford women’s swimming national champion Maya DiRado was named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday. DiRado advances to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced the first week of June.

The management science and engineering major with a 3.63 grade-point average was one of 11 honorees on the District 8 first team. She is joined by fellow Stanford student-athletes Hope Burke (field hockey) and Shona Morgan (gymnastics).

DiRado, a native of Santa Rosa, Calif., helped Stanford finish second at the NCAA championships by winning two individual events and contributing to two other relay national titles. She won the 200 and 400 IM races and was a part of the winning 400 free and 400 medley relays, while also earning All-America status in the 800 free relay (third) and 200 fly (second).

One of the most decorated swimmers in Stanford history, DiRado leaves The Farm with 21 All-America accolades, four national titles and seven Pac-12 championships. She is also a three-time Academic All-Pac-12 selection.
