STANFORD, Calif. – The Stanford field hockey team wrapped up its year with a team gathering to congratulate its seniors and recognize accomplishments.

The Cardinal is coming off its fifth consecutive 15-win season, finishing 16-5 overall, and claimed its fifth straight NorPac West regular season title.

Stanford spent each week ranked 13th or higher in the Longstreth/NFHCA Coaches’ Poll, including matching a program-best No. 6 ranking in two consecutive weeks.

The Cardinal will say goodbye to seniors Hope Burke, Courtney Haldeman and Anna Simmons, but are poised for success with a strong foundation of players returning next season.

Maddie Secco took home the Promising Young Player of the Year award, which is given to a freshman or sophomore who has had a significant impact on the team’s overall performance.

Simmons claimed Players’ Player Award hardware as the teammate that best represents Stanford field hockey, exemplifying leadership, teamwork, dedication, commitment and intensity.

The Cardinal of the Year award, given to the best performing player on the team, was presented to goalkeeper Dulcie Davies. She was a four-time NorPac West Defensive Player of the Week in 2013.

Stanford will pursue its sixth NCAA Tournament berth in the past eight years during the 2014 season.
