LOS ANGELES -- The Stanford baseball team ends a Cardinal tripleheader on ESPNU against UCLA tonight at 7 p.m. Stanford’s softball team, which is also at UCLA, and men’s volleyball squad, vying for a national title against Loyola Chicago, play at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively, on ESPNU.
The Cardinal looks to rebound after a disappointing performance in game one against the Bruins. UCLA put up six runs in the first inning to beat Stanford, 7-2.
John Hochstatter will attempt to get Stanford back to .500 when he gets the start on the mound this evening. Hochstatter has been brilliant of late, posting a 3-0 record and 1.19 ERA in April, to rank third in the Pac-12 games with a 1.05 ERA. He threw a complete game five-hitter to beat California, 4-1, in his last outing.
Hochstatter will need to slow down UCLA’s offense that was especially productive with runners on base. The Bruins hit .500 (7-14) with runners on base on Friday, the best mark against the Cardinal in 2014. UCLA also posted five two-out hits in game one.
Roxy Bernstein and Randy Flores have the call for ESPNU. The game will also be available on KZSU 90.1 FM.
