STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford will look to remain in the win column Tuesday when it plays host to Santa Clara at 6 p.m. (PT) at Smith Family Stadium.
The Cardinal (26-18, 3-12 Pac-12) swept the Broncos (7-26, 2-4 Pac-12) in two meetings last season, earning run-rule victories in both contests.
Stanford went 1-2 at Utah last weekend, dropping the first to games before earning a thrilling 12-11 comeback victory in the series finale. Leah White and Erin Ashby paced the Cardinal offensively in the series, both hitting .500 and recording a home run apiece.
Madi Schreyer (18-10) picked up the lone victory in the circle for the Cardinal. She holds a 3.36 ERA with 141 strikeouts in 185.2 innings pitched on the season.
Santa Clara split a pair of contests last weekend, falling 4-3 at California and earning a 1-0 decision against Fresno State. The Broncos are led offensively by Stephanie Fisher who leads the team in batting (.379), hits (39), doubles (9), total bases (58) and on-base percentage (.393).
Ciara Gonzales (4-11) has seen a majority of the time in the circle and holds a 3.39 ERA with 29 strikeouts in 105.1 innings. Jessica Turner (2-9) and Brianna Rios (1-5) have also seen significant time at pitcher.
Following Tuesday’s contest against the Broncos, Stanford will play host to No. 1/1 Oregon this weekend for a three-game set. The series begins Friday at 7 p.m. (PT).
