STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford plays back-to-back midweek non-conference games when it visits Santa Clara and Saint Mary's this week. The Cardinal play at Santa Clara Tuesday at 6 p.m., before a quick turnaround at Saint Mary's Wednesday at 3 p.m.
The Cardinal, which has won four of its last five, will look to continue its winning ways with Tyler Thorne on the mound Tuesday. Thorne is 2-0 in four starts with a 2.81 ERA while throwing 16 innings. He has been used primarily out of the bullpen this year, ranking second on the team with 12 appearances.
Santa Clara is coming off a big weekend sweep at NCAA-tournament hopeful San Diego. The Broncos will give the ball to junior lefty Evan Brisentine for his first start of the season. Brisentine has been effective in five innings over five appearances, as opponents are hitting just .118.
After Stanford's trip to Saint Mary's, the Cardinal will host California for three games starting Saturday. The final two games of the three-day series will be aired on Pac-12 Networks.
