Nine Earn All-Academic Awards

STANFORD, Calif. – Nine Stanford women’s gymnasts earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors, as announced by the conference Monday.

Shona Morgan earned her third consecutive first-team award, holding a 3.84 GPA as a human biology major. Morgan is joined on the first team by Jenna Frowein who boasts a 3.93 GPA.

Amanda Spinner was named to the second team for the second straight year. Samantha Shapiro and Rebecca Wing earned the first second-team awards of their careers. Shapiro was an honorable mention in 2013.

Pauline Hanset and Kristina Vaculik were Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mentions for the second consecutive season. Melissa Chuang and Taylor Rice were also named honorable mentions to earn the first awards of their careers.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.

Stanford will compete this weekend at the NCAA Championships in Birmingham, Ala. It is the Cardinal’s seventh trip to the NCAA Championships in the past eight years, and 14th time overall.

Stanford will pursue its seventh Super Six appearance in program history. The Cardinal is one of seven teams in the nation to make six Super Six appearances in the past 12 years (2002-13).
