BERKELEY, Calif. – Stanford women’s gymnast Nicolette McNair was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year on Saturday at the Pac-12 Championships.

McNair earned six individual victories and hit 94 percent (31-of-33) of her routines in her regular lineup spots on vault, bars and beam. She competed in the three events in all 11 meets and was named the Pac-12 Newcomer of the Week (Feb. 17-23) after recording five top-five finishes in six events over two meets against then-No. 4 Utah and at then-No. 9 UCLA.

McNair got stronger as the year went on and the competition got tougher, hitting each vault, bars and beam routine in the final eight meets of the year and scoring 9.850 or higher in 21 of 24 routines during that span. She excelled on vault, posting seven of Stanford’s top-10 scores in the event and scoring 9.900 or higher in seven meets. McNair competed in the all-around three times and posted a career-best 39.300 at then-No. 16 Oregon State.

McNair had a terrific conference championships debut, recording second-place finishes on bars (9.950) and vault (9.925), and tying for fifth on beam with a 9.875. McNair’s 9.950 on bars was a career-best and crushed her previous high of 9.875. Her 9.925 on vault tied her career-high

She helped lead Stanford to a second-place finish at the Pac-12 Championships, the Cardinal’s highest finish since 2010 when it finished second.
