STANFORD, Calif.- Stanford (21-12, 10-8 Pac-12) is returning to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2008 and will face New Mexico (27-6, 15-3 Mountain West) in the second round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament.
Recognized as the best point guard in school history, Knight was named a First Team All-American as a senior and led the Cardinal to three NCAA Tournament berths. A three-time All-Pac-10 selection, Knight holds career school records for assists (780) and steals (298) and is the program’s fourth-best all-time leading scorer (1,714 points).
Stanford owns a 21-15 record in NCAA Tournament competition and is making its 17th appearance overall. The Cardinal was a No. 3 seed during its last NCAA Tournament appearance six years ago, falling to Texas in the Sweet 16 following victories against Cornell and Marquette.
