STANFORD, Calif. - Exactly two months after playing its last game, the two-time defending Pac-12 champion Stanford football team returns to the publuc eye with David Shaw's team conducting an open practice on March 1.

Stanford takes to the Elliott Practice Fields behind Maples Pavilion Saturday at 9:30 a.m. (PT). The entire team will be on display with a controlled scrimmage and positional work.

Fans can also plan ahead with Stanford opening practice again next Saturday (March 8) in a 9 a.m. start. That practice will conclude in time for fans to attend the men's basketball game against Utah at 11:30 a.m.

Stanford projects to return significant talent among its offensive skill positions in 2014 and the fan base is energized, signified by a record-setting season ticket renewal pace. Last season, Stanford sold out all seven home games and had to cut off season ticket sales early in the spring.

Current season ticket holders are urged to renew their tickets ahead of the March 31 deadline in order to guarantee retention of seat locations. New requests for season tickets are being fielded every day. Season tickets provide the best value; they are they best method to secure the best seats within Stanford Stadium and are the only method to gaining priority access to postseason tickets.

The Cardinal will split its 15 spring practices among two sessions of two weeks each, with an academic break between. The second session begins March 31 and concludes with the Cardinal & White Spring Game on April 12 (1 p.m.) at Stanford Stadium. Admission is free.

One additional Saturday practice (April 5) will be opened to the public with that start time yet to be determined.
