STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford will be sending three of its players to Philadelphia on Friday after they were selected for the 2014 Women’s College Squash Association Individual Championships on Wednesday.
Junior Madeleine Gill was ranked No. 26 and will be among the top 32 individuals nationally competing for the Ramsay Cup. Gill won the Holleran Cup (B Division) last year, becoming the first player in Stanford history to do so. This season Gill played in the No. 1 position for the Cardinal and is 7-7 overall.
Senior Serena Fagan and freshman CC Ho have been selected to compete for the Holleran Cup. Fagan, a team captain, will be making her first individual postseason appearance. She is ranked No. 41 after posting a season record of 6-8 while playing at the No. 2 or 3 spots in the order.
Ho will be the first Stanford freshman since Pamela Chua in 2010 to play for either the Ramsay Cup or Holleran Cup. Ho burst on to the scene for the Cardinal this year with a 7-6 record, primarily at the No. 2 position. She is the only individual besides Gill to play No. 1 for Stanford in 2013-14.
The matches will take place at Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania. The first matches will take place on Friday, Feb. 28 and the finals will be on Sunday, March 2.
